It’s possible you don’t understand the distinctions between these terms if you’re not a hair stylist. Even if you do, it’s likely you won’t be able to determine what they actually mean when searching for quality hair extensions products. Let’s get started.
Quality is everything
These terms simply mean that the hair being sold is of a certain quality. The consumer wants to be sure that the hair they buy is long-lasting, beautiful, and natural.
Hair extensions can be a significant investment for stylists as well as salon customers. These terms all contribute to the same quality puzzle, but it is important to understand what each one means and how to tell.
Not all extensions are human hair
No. This definition has a few key distinctions. There are many synthetic hair extensions available on the market. It’s okay, there’s a reason. Even carry Your hair extension stocks a limited number of synthetic clip-ins But it is important to understand the differences. Even so, Not all human hair extensions can be made equal.
Virgin hair is key
The source of hair is the first thing to consider when discussing hair quality. Be Special Lady’s human hair extensions come from India. There, women grow long, beautiful, and chemically unaffected locks that they then donate to temples in the area as a social and religious service.
It is important to have untreated hair, or “virgin”, as this ensures that the base hair extensions material is of the best quality.
Humane Sourcing practices
You may not get virgin hair if it was not humanely sourced. Some hair extensions can be obtained in a consensual or dignified manner.
Women have been forced to sell their hair to make ends meet due to economic hardship. There have also been cases of women being coerced into giving their hair away or selling it. It is not worth putting other people in harm’s way, and it is wrong for any company to profit from the suffering of others.
This is why we buy Indian hair from temples (or what some call temple hair). These temples accept hair as a religious donation and then sell it to different companies. These temples use the proceeds from these transactions to finance the temple and the community it houses.
So what is 100% Remy?
Remy hair is the best quality because it’s the easiest type of hair to use, the longest lasting, and looks natural. Remy hair, also known as remi, is a type of hair that has been cut in a specific way to reduce tangling or matting.
Technique is important
Even the best quality hair may not end up being remy. Keep in mind that hair has a natural orientation. There are two sides to it: a root side and a end side. The cuticle layer on its outside faces downward.
Remy hair considers this, so the hair is correctly aligned with the root at the top, and the end at the bottom. The cuticle layer faces downward. Mixed hair can be non-remy. Some hair may be oriented in the correct direction while others might be oriented in the opposite direction. Non-remy hair is more prone to frizz and damage. When you brush it, your brush is against the cuticle layer. This makes them more susceptible to tangle or break.
Monks can either shave hair or bind the hair to collect donated hair. While shaved hair can be scattered on the ground to be collected later, hair that has been bound or cut is kept in order. The latter is what gives rise to human remy hair.
It is rare to find 100%
Many companies sell hair that isn’t 100% remy. Although the majority of hair in an extension may meet the “remy” criteria for quality, not all strands will. Remy hair is typically more expensive than any other hair, so some businesses may be tempted to combine remy with synthetic or nonremy strands in order to bulk up their extensions.
This is a practice we do not endorse. We are proud of the exceptional quality of our products and we choose to do business with integrity.
What does ‘Cuticle Intact’ mean?
Natural cuticles that are intact and unbroken don’t guarantee hair extensions. A higher quality product will be delivered to the customer if hair cuticles are maintained throughout production. Cuticles not only protect hair but also give hair a natural texture and feel.
To make the hair appear 100% remy, some companies actually remove its cuticles.
Cuticle intact hair will give you a longer-lasting, natural-looking extension.
